You are what you Google!
But Googling people is also becoming a way for bosses and headhunters to do continuous and stealthy background checks on employees, no disclosure required.
The above is taken from this article.
I am not sure what to think here. I have told many people…be careful what you say about yourself on the Internet, because once Google’s indexes you, you are indexed for life!
But one cannot blame Google for indexing your name. A website is a public place. Google is just a search engine (like an encyclopedia) and just provides a means for people to find information quickly and easily. Wait did I just say that!!!? (they are not just a search engine, but you know what I mean!)
So as the article said, please be careful….don’t be typing a blog entry while you are drunk and describing all what the strippers did to you back when you were in University because you could lose your job for it one day!
I have seen one or two movies mention that they Google’s their friends names etc etc…If i was interviewing someone, I think i just MIGHT consider Googling that person, however whatever I read on that person after that would NOT have much weight on my final decision to hire that person….especially if it is negative stuff.
Google is slowly but surely taking over….I have said it before and I will say it again!! Do not be left behind. Let’s just jump on the Google bandwagon and enjoy the ride. Time for me to go join the Google Army…
